Kathmandu. The Second Pakku Festival 2082, organized by the President Business Group, officially began today in Kathmandu. The inaugural ceremony was held at 9:45 AM on the first day of Navaratri, marked by lighting a traditional oil lamp by nine young girls.
Chairman T.R. Bhandari (Shankar) explained that the program was symbolically launched by offering food and tika to the nine girls, highlighting the cultural and spiritual significance of the event.
The President Business Group, which began its journey in 2006 from Sundhara, has now completed 19 years of operation. Currently, the group provides services from 16 outlets across Nepal, including President Hotels, Restaurants, Sekuwa & Multi-Cuisine Restaurants, and President Bakery. Since 2011, the company has been branding itself under the name President Business Group.
Following the success of the First Pakku Festival 2081 held last year, this second edition is being hosted at President Sekuwa & Multi-Cuisine Restaurant, Maharajgunj. The festival features exhibitions of local handicrafts, cultural music, traditional cuisines, and the signature Pakku dishes associated with the Dashain festival.
According to the organizers, the festival aims to connect the younger generation with Nepal’s culture, traditions, food, and lifestyle. It also seeks to bring the festive atmosphere to city dwellers who have moved away from their villages.
Speaking at the event, Chairman Bhandari emphasized that beyond business and trade, the festival is dedicated to entertainment, tradition, and the preservation of Nepal’s unique cultural identity.
